São Paulo Odissi Workshop - Day 3

Where learning became offering.

The final day of the workshop unfolded with quiet strength and shared devotion.

On 18 October 2025, at Devi Space in Vila Madalena, the focus turned to Nava Durga, a choreographic exploration of the nine manifestations of Goddess Durga. What began as technique and structure over the previous days gently transformed into something more embodied, more lived.

The dancers arrived not only prepared, but present.

Dressed with care and intention, each participant stepped into the space carrying what they had absorbed, rhythm, form, breath, and bhava. What followed was not about perfection, but sincerity. Movement after movement revealed deep listening, dedication, and respect for the form. The room held a rare energy: focused, generous, and quietly powerful.

It was moving to witness how deeply the dancers connected with the choreography - not simply reproducing steps, but allowing the spirit of the Goddess to pass through their bodies in their own way. Their commitment was evident in every glance, every pause, every shared smile. The joy was unmistakable.

This day was a reminder of why Odissi continues to travel across cultures and continents, because when it is shared with care, it is received with open hearts. The love, discipline, and clarity with which the form was transmitted were met with equal dedication from the dancers. Teaching and learning flowed both ways.

What unfolded in that space was collective, a room full of individuals moving together, learning together, and honouring something much larger than themselves.

Simply put, it was beautiful. Gratitude to every dancer for their openness, trust, and devotion throughout these days. Moments like this affirm that Odissi lives not only through tradition, but through people, through shared effort, humility, and love.
